Larry Lane Porter

April 8, 1942 — March 25, 2023

Larry Lane Porter, passed away at 2:20 PM on Saturday, March 25, 2023, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. He is now with the Lord. He was born on April 8, 1942, in Lima, Ohio, son of Rex and Verla Porter, who preceded him in death.

Larry graduated from Lima Senior High School, class of 1960. He married his high school sweetheart, on September 15, 1962, Georgia Makris, who survives. Larry retired in 2007. He was the owner and operator with Tri Hours Trucking. Larry also earned his pilot license to a Cessna Aircraft. He also, received a blackbelt in Judo, from the YMCA. He enjoyed his ham radio and talk to people all over the world. Larry had a passion and talent for woodworking; he had a shop at his house where he made many beautiful pieces of furniture, as well as a pole barn that he and his sons built together. Larry enjoyed going to the shooting range and spending time with his sons. He was a devoted fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and Detroit Red Wings. Each year Larry planted a large vegetable garden and would share the harvest with his friends and family. Larry's smile, love for Jazz music, laughter, and love will forever be missed by those who knew him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. This isn't goodbye, it's see you later…

Those left to forever cherish his memory are his loving wife, Georgia; sons, Kevin (Shelly), Christopher (Sherie), and Kyle; five grandchildren, Brittany (Joe), Haley, Blake (Alex), Alexander, and Mason; and four great grandchildren, Rex, Maeve, Michael, and Little Peanut.

A memorial service will be held at New Hope Christian Church April 6th at 11:00 a.m. 2457 Holloway Road, Holland, Ohio 43528. Pastor Vickie Rankins-Anderson will officiate, the service.

The family encourages any memorial contributions to be made to the Gary Sinese, Wounded Warriors Foundation.
