Larry "Doug" Hardman, 75, of Toledo, Ohio, and formerly from Ripley, West Virginia passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with Small Cell Lung Cancer.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather and friend.
Larry was born on April 1, 1945 in Gandeeville, West Virginia to Ferd and Alice Randolph Hardman. Larry will be deeply missed by his wife Marlene Hardman (Pietrowski), whom he married in 1976. They had one son, Justin (Ariane) Hardman together and one special grandson, Wyatt D. Hardman (peanut).
He is also survived by his former spouse Sharla Haynes Cobb, W.Va., and their children, Teresa (Marty) Hager, Evans, W.Va., Bryan (Helen) Hardman, Riverview, FL, and Elizabeth (Greg) Bowman, Chatsworth, GA. Grandchildren, Martin Lee (Diana) Hager, San Antonio, TX, Maggie Hager, Williamson, W.Va., Samantha (Shaun) Morris, Adrian, MI,, Allie Bowman, Chatsworth, GA, Kirk (Sarah) Bowman, Crandall, GA, and Amie (Stephen) Anderson) Riverview, Florida. three Great grandsons Sean Fair-Hager, San Antonio, TX, Beckett Bowman, Crandall, GA, and Tytus Anderson, Riverview, Fl.
Also surviving are his siblings, Kenneth (Margaret) Hardman, Petersburg, VA, Jerry (Bev) Hardman, Bowling Green, OH, Bonnie Skeen, Dalton GA, Helen Hardman, Kentuck, W.Va. Brother in laws, Rodney (Lorraine) Pietrowski, Amos Good, W.Va., Sister in laws, Lynette M. Nowak, Burlington, IA and Kimberlee (Patrick) Jagodzinski, plus many nieces and nephews.
Always a hard worker, Larry started his working career as a meat cutter for the former Joseph's Super Market. He was also employed at Chrysler's Toledo Machining Plant in Perrysburg, OH for 32 years, retiring in 2000. He was a avid bowler and golfer, golfing often with his Chrysler "buddies". He was a huge West Virginia Mountaineer fan, and always called West Virginia his home.
Preceding in death were his parents Ferd and Alice Hardman, his mother in law Eleanor Pietrowski, whom he so lovingly help care for, and his sisters, Doris Good, Helen Harper, and Mary Smith.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 29, 2021, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo, OH 43623, from 10:00 am -1:30 pm with prayer service to follow, at 1:30 pm., with Fr. Jaroslaw Nowak officiating. For the safety of the Hardman family and their guests, masks are required along with social distancing.
