Larry E. Bailey, age 72, of Toledo, passed away Thursday, November 18th, 2010 at his residence. He was born March 4th, 1938 to Willis and Betty (Hallett) Bailey in Delta, Ohio. Larry graduated from Maumee High School, receiving 9 letters in several sports. He was an Inductee into the Maumee High School Hall of Fame 2008-09 for his many sporting accomplishments throughout his high school career. Larry was employed with the former Plaskon for more than 30 years and was also a member of UAW Local 12. An avid sportsman, he played golf and softball and also bowled with his Plaskon co-workers. Because of his love of sports, Larry became a coach with Little League, coaching his children in baseball and softball over the years. He enjoyed supporting the University of Toledo Lady Rockets, traveling many miles to watch the games. Larry also kept an eye on the Toledo Storm Hockey Team over the years. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and brother and his family will cherished the times they spent together.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his children, "Skip" (Kim) and Robert Bailey, Tammy (Robert) Ankenbrandt, Larry (Lynne) Bailey, Jr. of Summerville, SC and Tracy Johnson; grandchildren, Kira (Dean), Kala (Brandon), Brittany, Robert Jr., Christina, Tyler, Melanie and Zachary; great granddaughter, Kenley and brothers, Gerald Bailey of MD and Daniel (Mary Ann) Davis.
The family will receive guests Monday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
