Larry D. Bryson, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on February 23, 2025, in Toledo, Ohio, at the age of 73. Born on April 4, 1951, he lived a life that was profoundly marked by his devotion to his family and his unwavering commitment to service.
Larry served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that instilled in him a deep sense of duty, discipline and patriotism.
In addition to his military service, Larry found joy in simple pleasures. He was a passionate sports fan, often found watching games on television, cheering on his favorite teams. He also enjoyed engaging with his phone, particularly playing the game pyramid solitaire, and had a fondness for old Western films as well as Kung Fu Pictures.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Shirley Bryson, and daughters: Tiaunna Lawson, Tinisha Lawson, Tacarra Bryson, and Erica Terry. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, who will fondly remember their time with him. He is also survived by his siblings: Beverly (Bryson) Jackson- Detroit Michigan, Patricia Bryson- Cheynne, Wyoming, Emma (Bryson) Granger- Midland, North Carolina, Virginia Bryson- Detroit, Michigan, Selina Bryson-Highland Park, Michigan, and Francene Bryson- Michigan along with brothers Robert Bryson Jr.- Detroit, Michigan, Marvin Bryson- Detroit, Michigan, Jimmy (Hope) Bryson- Toledo, Ohio, Effie Morris-Little Rock, Arkansas and Steve Metcalf - Sandy Springs, Georgia.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Della Mae Bryson; his sister, Marena Bryson; his brother, Kevin Gowan and, his grandson, Joseph Smith.
Visitation will be held on March 6, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Toledo, located at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, Ohio 43614. A funeral service will take place the following day, March 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
Larry D. Bryson will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit and contagious laugh will live on in the hearts and memories of his family and friends.
