Kim LeAnn Whetsel, age 59, of Toledo, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, December 6, 2019 at Spring Meadows Nursing Facility. She was born on June 16, 1960 in Orange County, California and was raised by William and Marilyn (Reetz) Slaughter in Toledo. Kim was a graduate of Roy C. Start High School, Class of 1978. After high school she moved to Kenner, Louisiana with her parents where she managed a local McDonald's. She also worked at Ivy Steel in North Miami, Florida where she was an office manager. After Ivy Steel, she worked for Southern Wine and Spirits. Kim put much effort into caring for her parents when their health declined. Most recently she moved back to Toledo and managed In & Out Mart on Douglas Rd. Kim loved her family and her precious feline friends, Mittens and Misty.
Left to cherish her memory are her brothers, Don (Mary) Whetsel and Tom (Chris) Whetsel; half-sister, Ginny (Joe) D' Ercole; step-brother, Michael (Rebecca) Slaughter; cousin, Pam Sanfilippo; nieces & nephews, Heidi, Donald, Thomas (Melody) and Julianne (William); great-nephew, Landon; great-nieces, Aubree and Kenzie. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister and half-sister, Cynthia Whetsel.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 from 4-6:00 p.m. at Newcomer - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) with her Memorial Service starting at 6:00 p.m.
In Kim's memory, Memorial Contributions may be made to any cancer organization of the donor's choice.
