Kevin "Godfather" Taylor, age 58, of Toledo, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the Toledo Hospital after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was born on May 20, 1954 to James and Alma (Barbour) Taylor in Toledo. Kevin was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country proudly during the Vietnam War. He was employed with the Toledo Blade as a mail room clerk for over 30 years before retiring. Kevin enjoyed listening to old music, photography, nature and vacationing with his family. He was a very devoted husband, dad and grandad who loved nothing more than his family. Kevin provided for them even in his weakest times and always remained strong and supportive to them. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Rebecca Taylor; sons, Matthew (Michelle) and Joshua Taylor; grandchildren, Karina and Kevin Taylor; brothers, Albert, Robert and Lansing Taylor; sisters, Barbara Barnes, Thelma Spears and Catherine Harris; dear friend, Chris; and many other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Cheryl Sutton and brother, James Taylor, Jr.
The family will receive guests on Monday, May 13, 2013 from 3 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will take place Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Spring Street Baptist Church, 601 Spring St., Toledo, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow in Forest Cemetery.
