Kenneth C. Stoner

Kenneth Stoner, age 80, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 25, 2017. He was born on October 11, 1936 to the late Elmer and Marguerite Stoner in Toledo, Ohio.
Ken was a 1954 graduate of Waite High School where he was an honorable mention All-City Basketball Player. He had great respect for his Alma Mater and attended many functions they had. Ken worked for Surface Combustion for many years and retired from Toledo Board of Education in 2005. Ken loved all sports and played softball, umpired and coached youth sports for several years. He was an avid Ohio State, Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians fan. Ken was a member of Maumee Elks and Eagles for many years. He enjoyed playing cards (especially Euchre), shooting pool, meeting out with his former Waite classmates and his lunch bunch group on Fridays. Ken spent his summers at Barton Lake in Fremont, Indiana where he loved being around his friends there and his close friends in Toledo.
Ken was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Sue; along with his sister, Janet Neyhart. He is survived by his daughter, Laurie Featzka; son, Scott; brothers, Pete (Lynn) and Dick (Denise); grandchildren, Megan (Brian) Williams and Michael Bigler; brother-in-law, David (Mary Lou) Baertschi; along with several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews and family dog, Brutus.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 4-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). A Celebration of his life will be held on Friday from Noon – 3:00 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 139 W. Wayne Street, Maumee.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Margaret Hunt Senior Center, 2121 Garden Lake Parkway, Toledo, Ohio 43614.
