Kenneth R. "Kenny" Sargent, age 79, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe, Michigan. He was born on January 1, 1933 to Greene Adam and Carrie (Sexton) Sargent in Wake Forest, West Virginia. Kenny retired from Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad after 35 years as an engineer. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and in his spare time he enjoyed playing the guitar and tending to his many flower, fruit and vegetable gardens around his home.
He is survived by his children, Jeffery (Carolyn), Gregory (Sandy), Randy (Yvonne), Martin (Susie), Benjamin (Shelly), Allen (Shannon), Christina and Kenneth II; 27 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lonnie (Jean), Juanita (Dick), Ilean (Garry), Winona, Larry (Jan), Sandy (Chick) and Dick (Barb). In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 from 4-6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Memorial Services will begin in the funeral home Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
