Kenneth R. Pfahler, age78, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010 at his home. He was born December 1st, 1931 to Wester and Laura Mae (Swartz) Pfahler in Tiro, Ohio. Ken was a U.S. Army Veteran serving his country proudly. He was employed with Columbia Gas for 35 years retiring in 1988. Ken was also a member of the Kiwanis Club in Bowling Green, Ohio. Ken was a longtime member of Christ the King Church taking his conversion to Catholicism very seriously. He was a devoted father and enjoyed coaching his sons through CYO at Christ the King. He was also very instrumental in establishing the Festival for Christ the King Parish. Ken was an avid sports fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns and Indians listening to the many games on his radio.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Helen R. Pfahler and brother, Edward Pfahler. He is survived by his sons, Steven (Marianne) Pfahler of Sylvania and Greg (Francine "Fred") Pfahler of Toledo; daughter, Denise (Chuck) Drath of Maumee; grandchildren, Lauren; Todd; Lindsay; Nicole and Matthew and brothers, John (Betty) and Edwin (Anne) Pfahler.
The family will receive guests Friday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
