Kenneth H. "Kenny" Schatz, age 93, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014 after post-operative illness. He was born in Toledo in 1920. Kenny was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran during WWII. He was a government employee after his Coast Guard service, working at the Rossford Ordinance Depot immediately following the war and subsequently with the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. Kenny was quite an accomplished sketch artist and very adept at building and repairing electrical devices, especially antique radios.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Gang) Schatz; his parents, John and Maude Schatz; brothers, Bill and Clyde Schatz; and sister, Dorothy. Kenny is survived by his care-givers, niece, Ellen McComis and her husband, Jack; sister-in-law, Olive Schatz; and many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 2 – 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Toledo.
