Kenneth H. Growden, age 70, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born November 26, 1938 to Vance and Laura Growden in Toledo. Kenneth was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, serving from 1958 – 1962. He was retired as a meat cutter from Sofo Foods, Monroe St., where he was known as "Little Kenny." Kenneth's passions were golfing and fishing with Marvin, Jr. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes. Kenneth was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, nephew and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley and Nancy. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Mildred A. "Millie" Growden, with whom he would have celebrated 50 years, January 17th; daughters, Beckie (Bob) Iwinski, Wanda (Leon) Houghtalling, Christine (Jay) Springer and Laurie (Dave) Bury; grandchildren, Robert, Jr., Jason, Jon (Jolene), Jamie, Heather (Noah), Mike B., Matt, Nathan, Danny, Maelynn and Derek; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, James (Pat) Growden; sisters, Barbara (James) Leidel and Mary (Mike) Brigman; aunt, Sarah (Larry) Ulrich; and many other relatives and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Friday from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
