Kenneth V. Baker, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024, at the age of 85 in Lambertville, Michigan. Born on January 15, 1939, in Lenarue, Kentucky. Ken was known for his kind heart, generous spirit, and infectious laughter that could light up any room.
Ken dedicated thirty years of his life to Jeep, retiring with a sense of pride and accomplishment. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army, a testament to his commitment and dedication. After retirement, he found joy in simple pleasures—sipping coffee while soaking in the beauty of nature, laughing with loved ones, and spending time tinkering in his garage, where he would devote hours to repairing and restoring his cars and trucks.
Ken had a deep appreciation for life up north, where he cherished evenings spent around campfires, listening to birds, and watching the wildlife. His love for family and friends was evident in every aspect of his life; he was a down-to-earth individual who treated everyone with respect and warmth. Ken delighted in the innocence of smiling babies, as they brought him a particular joy that he held dear.
He leaves behind a remarkable legacy comprising his five children: Cindy Huffman and her husband Bruce, Herbert Baker and Wendy Folk, Ken "Mike" Baker, Tammy Baker and her husband Jim, and Johnny Baker and his wife Sara. His pride extended to his eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, who all understood how lucky they were to call Ken their pappaw. Each family gathering was filled with laughter and love, echoes of which will resonate in their hearts for years to come.
In addition to his living family, Ken is rejoining his beloved grandson, Shaun Baker, and siblings Paul Baker, Nancy Bargo, and Carolyn Anspach, who predeceased him. Their memories will forever be cherished and celebrated by those who knew them.
A visitation in honor of Ken’s life will take place on December 19, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM. Both events will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, located at 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH 43623.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Heartland Hospice; 1070 N. Monroe St., Suite B, Monroe, MI 48162.
Kenneth V. Baker will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. His warmth and laughter will resonate in the hearts of many, and his legacy will continue to thrive through the generations he has inspired and nurtured.
