Kathryn A. Watson, a beloved figure in her community and an example of unwavering love and compassion, passed away peacefully in Toledo, Ohio on February 22, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on August 15, 1939, in Toledo, she spent her life nurturing her family and those around her with a warmth and kindness that will forever be remembered.
Kathryn was a devoted mother to her children, Allegra Moore and her husband Lioneal, Edward Nunn, Vuanita Byrd and her husband Eric, Ezekiel Watson and his wife Michelle, and Stephen Watson. Her legacy extends into the hearts of her many grandchildren: Allen, Al'Christopher, Alexandria, Randolph, Melissa, Angela, Christina, Antione, Edward, Gregory, Aaron, Alvin, Airica, Jenelle, Stephen Jr., and Sancia. Her bond with them was a testament to her loving nature, as she nurtured and guided them as if they were her own.
A profound joy of Kathryn’s life was her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother, with a cherished family of great-grandchildren: Deshay, Anisha, Allaundro Jr., Demarion, Allasia, Adorion, Dorian, Ayge, Arllo, Allen Jr., Aryk, Lucas, Ayden, Adonis, Adaris, Randolph Jr., Avery, Wydell, Amyle, Ajazznay, Alina, Avon, Aurie, Alexisa, Austin, Joseph, Kara, and Mateo. Most recently, she was blessed with great-great-grandchildren: Emiya, Eric, A'Vree, Amoura, O'Shaya, and O'Shayla, who filled her heart with unimaginable joy.
Kathryn valued family above all else. As a proud and highly active member of her community, she was dedicated to helping others. She was largely involved in local organizations and made a significant impact as a member of Legal Aid, a troop leader for Girl Scouts, a pre-school teacher, and a daycare provider. Her dedication and service to her community were also reflected in her commitment to True-Vine Missionary Baptist Church, where she openly shared her faith and love for those around her.
Kathryn's vibrant personality shone brightly—she was loving, outgoing, and outspoken. Known affectionately as a “mother to all,” she sought to uplift those around her, always offering a warm smile and a kind word. Her nurturing spirit made her a beloved matriarch to not only her family but to many who were fortunate enough to cross her path.
Kathryn is reunited in eternal rest with her late husband, James C. Watson, along with her grandson Allahundro Nalls, and great-grandchildren Ayla Nalls and Antwan Walker Jr. She also rejoins her brothers Ellsworth, Bernard, and Michael Taylor, her father Ezekiel Nunn, and her mother Kathryn Britt.
Visitation will take place on March 5, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at True-Vine Missionary Baptist Church, located at 739 Russell St, Toledo, OH 43608, where friends and family will come to share their memories and honors. The funeral service will follow immediately thereafter, beginning at 12:00 PM, with a graveside service also taking place that day at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery, starting at 1:30 PM.
Kathryn A. Watson leaves behind a legacy of love that will echo through generations, a reminder of the power of nurturing and the strength of community bonds. Her memory will revere in the hearts of her family and the many lives she touched throughout her remarkable life.
