Kathryn J. Farmer

June 28, 1944 — March 11, 2022

Kathryn Jean (Lake) Farmer

Kathy was born on June 28, 1944 daughter of Norman and Ruth Lake. She was born in Toledo Ohio, but moved to Lambertville, MI in 1950. She graduated from Bedford High School in 1963, then went on to receive a degree in nursing from Riverside School of Nursing in 1964. She worked at Toledo Hospital for 30 years most of that time spent in Pediatric ICU. In addition, she was a Pampered Chef director for 10 years, taught Adult Ed. Cooking classes at Maumee High School. She was well known for her amazing cheesecakes which she made for many family gatherings and sold on the side.

In 1995 Kathy was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, and soon after was forced into retirement. She fought a long hard battle with Parkinson's, attending classes, seminars and conventions to keep up with the latest changes and advances in the fight against the disease.

Kathy was a happy fun-loving person, loved to travel, enjoyed cooking for people and trying out new recipes. Her home was always open for friends and guests and you always got great food to eat. She was also a wonderful nurse, very caring and compassionate to both her young patients who were very sick, as well as their families. Kathy loved to go to the casino and play slots, she enjoyed solitaire, card games, cross-stitch, quilting and many other crafts.

Her wish was to remind her children that "there is no crying in baseball" and if you don't know what that means, you're reading the wrong obituary (her words, not mine). Dick (aka Dickie Diamond) was a great husband and caregiver. During their marriage, they traveled to Europe, the west coast, and Florida having many wonderful adventures and experiences.

The family would like to offer special thanks to ProMedica Ebid Hospice, Dr. Elmer, P.A. Mary (Molly) Scott, her Hospice Nurse Emily, her Social Worker Kelly, all of her wonderful home aides and her best friend Garnet Francis for all the special care and concerns of Kathy during her illness and help to our families.

She will be greatly missed not only by her family but her friends as well. She is survived by her Husband Richard Farmer, Daughter Wendy (John) Santiago, Son Martin (Robin) Voigt, Son Jeffrey (Susan) Voigt, Daughter-in-law Kimberly Voigt/Morris, Step Son David (Sheila) Farmer, Step Son Derek Farmer, Step son Doug, as well as 15 grandchildren, 3 Step grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren. Kathryn was proceeded in death by her parents Norman and Ruth Lake, Sister Judy Cummings, Son Michael Voigt and Daughter-in-law Michelle Voigt.
