Kathleen Fernandez

Kathleen "Kathy" (nee Miller) Fernandez, resident of Maumee, Ohio, passed away on December 6, 2022 at age 80. Daughter of the late Casimer and Lucille Miller. Cherished wife of the late Joseph "Ray" Fernandez. Beloved mother of Nikki Dahms, Jason (Lama) Fernandez and Carmen (Greg) Sams. Adored nana of Shelby and Taylor Dahms, Jake, Sam and Maya Fernandez, Nancy and AJ Sams. Sister of Mary Jesko and the late Connie Nadeau. Kathy is also leaving behind a group of childhood friends whom she loved dearly.

Kathy and Ray married on September 4, 1965 in Toledo, OH. They went on to raise their family in Whitehouse until they retired and moved to Waterside in Maumee. Kathy started her career as a secretary at Owens Illinois and then took time off to raise her three children. While raising her children, she returned to school and received her Masters of Education from University of Toledo and went on to retire from Saint Charles Borromeo in Toledo from her position as a middle school teacher. Kathy received recognition for her efforts as a teacher and was an active member of her parish. In retirement, she spent lots of time with her grandchildren - as an active woman, she never let them slow her down. She was a volunteer with the Auxiliary at Saint Luke's Hospital. Kathy and Ray traveled the United States to spend time exploring, and taking in the history of our national parks and other historical sites. As a cancer survivor, she will be greatly admired for years to come for her strength. Kathy loved her family more than anything. She opened her home and heart to everyone. She was everyone's nana. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Her family is forever grateful to the staff at The Lakes of Monclova and Hospice of NW Ohio for the love and care they provided her.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 from 2:00-7:00PM at Newcomer Funeral Home at 4752 Heatherdowns Bvld, Toledo, OH 43614

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 with visiting at 12:30PM and the service directly following at 1:00PM Saint Charles Catholic Church at 1842 Airport Hwy, Toledo, OH 43609.
