Kathleen "Kathy" G. Sackman-Couturier, 55, of Toledo,Ohio, lost her courageous battle against cancer on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at St. Anne's Mercy Hospital. She was born in Toledo on April 18, 1953 to John and Doris (Morgan) Sackman. Kathy was employed at Dave White Chevrolet, The Albon Inn, Burgers Bar & Grill, and later became a top Avon representative. She attended Roy C. Start High School along with Ruth Sobiniak, Denise Salo, and Linnet Common, who have remained good friends after all these years. Kathy later joined the VFW #606, Ladies Auxiliary when her father and brother became members.
Surviving are her adoring husband, Jeffrey Couturier and their daughter Heather (Anthony) Cellura; siblings, John J. (Dyann) Sackman and Judith E. (Michael) Doran; nieces and nephews, Kristopher G. Doran, Danielle Sackman, and Devon (Jen) Sackman, along with their beautiful children, Brenden Doran, Ian, Isaac and Isabel Sackman. She is also survived by her only grandchild, Angelena M. Cellura.
Kathy and Jeff loved having Angelena spend the summers with them and traveling to Sauder Village, Put'n Bay, Cedar Point and MIS while spending summer days at their little place at Clark's Lake in Michigan.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Doris Sackman and her late in-laws; James and Caroline Couturier.
The family will receive guests Thursday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral services will begin Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Internment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
