Katheryn A. Best-Callahan

Katheryn A. Best-Callahan, age 79, of Sylvania Township, passed away peacefully; surrounded by her loving family at St. Clare Commons in Perrysburg, Ohio on Friday, December 23, 2016. She was born on December 18, 1937 to Phillip and Margaret (Vanyo) Rapp. She is survived by her brother, Phillip Rapp and three sisters, Peggy Blossom, Barb Giovanoli and Nannette Wolfe.

Kate attended Whitmer High School, received her associate degree from Owens Tech. She worked many years at Toledo Scale as well as Toledo Water. Kate enjoyed playing golf with cousin Charmaine, playing cards with all her neighbor friends, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Gerald A. "Jerry" Callahan of 28 years; daughter, Terri Best; son, Doug Best; step-children, Vicki Leuck, Butch (Carrie) Callahan, Cathy Marrero, Scott Callahan and Jim Callahan; twenty grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and her loving puppy, Sophie.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 10:30 a.m.
