Katherine M. "Katie"
1962 - 2007
Katherine M. "Katie" (Scheibenzuber) Hughes, age 44, of Toledo, surrounded by her family, passed into the loving arms of our Lord on May 9, 2007, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. She was born on December 14, 1962 to Joseph and Clella (Harrison) Scheibenzuber and was a life long resident of Toledo. She married Michael P. Hughes on May 20, 1989. She was a 1981 graduate of Central Catholic High School and a member of St. Adalbert Parish in Toledo. Katie's life revolved around her family and their numerous activities and vacations together. Her greatest love was for her family as well as attending her sons' various athletic and academic events of which the Boy Scouts were a great part. She was a Cub Scout Leader and a Venture Co-Advisor and devoted many hours to supporting scouting events. Katie was a governing board member for Toledo Academy of Learning and president of the Parental Association. She also enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, John Denver music and being with her boys, often visiting historical places. Katie was a giving, unselfish, and caring person who frequently volunteered to help no matter what the cause. She will be remembered for being a loving, kind, and generous wife, mother daughter, sister, aunt and friend but her devotion to her children was her most important life's work. Katie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
