He passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his wife, Esther and surrounded by his family, at the Toledo Hospital. He was born April 25th, 1929 to Andreas and Regina Horlamus in Nuernberg, Germany. Karl was a Tool & Dye maker in Germany. After the war he trained and became a Master Plasterer. He was also an avid gardener, spending much time working in his yard. Karl loved to dance and enjoyed traveling with his wife through Europe, spending time in Northern Italy, his homeland of Germany and Austria.
Most importantly, Karl treasured the time he spent with his three grandsons. He attended many of their school functions and sporting events. They were truly his pride and joy. Karl will also be remembered by all who came to know him while he sold warm, soft pretzels at the German American Festival for more than 44 years. Karl was a member of the GAF, GBU and a lifelong member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
In addition to his parents, Karl was preceded in death by his sister, Helene Hoffman. To My Dear Mama, Bernie, Georgie, Blake, Grant, Austin and Aspen,
I've changed my address to Heaven,
I'll be safe there forevermore.
For the Lord is building a mansion and my name is on the door.
You'll find us walking together,
Where He is, there is where I will be.
I've changed my address to Heaven,
That's where you will find me.
I love all of you,
OPA
