Karen Kasey Stevens, 62, of Toledo, passed away on September 26, 2022, with her family by her side.
Karen was born to Charles and Patricia Keyser on July 4, 1960, in Toledo, OH. She graduated from Whitmer High School in 1978. Karen married the love of her life, Richard "Butch" Stevens, Jr., in 1979.
As a child, Karen believed the fireworks on her birthday were in celebration of her. As fate would have it, her family heard a single firework while gathered around her on the eve of her passing.
Karen worked for Washington Local Schools as a bus driver from 1994 until she had to step away due to her illness in 2019. The children she drove brought her so much joy—as she did to them—no matter the age. Making others smile and laugh was her passion. Prior to driving a school bus, Karen worked as a home health aide, providing care and compassion to others who were blessed to be nurtured by her.
Karen is survived by her mother, Patricia Keyser; husband, Richard; daughters, Samantha Stevens (Mark Lones) and Casey (Matt) Ueberroth; grandchildren, Jett, Joey, and Charley; step-grandchildren Salena, Garrett, and Faith; step-great-grandchildren Marci and Mari; her "forever friend" Terri Swartzlander and family; godmother Margaret Hoover and family; aunt Carol Jeffers; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Keyser.
At Karen's request, no services will be held. The family welcomes donations to the charity of the donor's choice as an expression of sympathy instead of flowers.
