Karen D. Redrup
12-6-1953 - 8-26-2007
Karen departed this earth the evening of Sunday, August 26, 2007 at her home. She and her life partner had had a wonderful day doing some of the things they loved. They went to a "Friend's of the Library" book sale, visited Pearson Metropark, ate ice-cream and played with their pets. We can find comfort in the knowledge that her faith was deep and she was not afraid.
Karen's bright smile and contagious laughter could light up a room. She enjoyed a diverse assortment of friends and was always willing to help others. Karen was quick with a joke or an odd trivia fact. She had the ability to say just the right words to comfort or encourage and remembered experiences down to the tiniest detail. In the words of one of her nephews, "Karen was so cool..."
Karen attended Start High School in Toledo and Bowling Green State University in broadcasting journalism. She received her degree in Sign Language Studies from Madonna University in Lavonia, Michigan and was seeking her Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling at Bowling Green State University. In 1992, Helen Jones and Karen co-founded DEAFinitely IT Interpreting Services.
She leaves behind her life partner, Linda Marie Clow and their pets, Barney; Kitty; Samii and Harley. She also leaves a daughter, Jennifer A. Bell; sons, Gary Redrup, Jr. and Steven (Jennifer) Redrup; grandson, Steven Redrup, Jr.; 5 sisters, Cynthia Bell; Karla A. VanAlstine; Karen Lou Ziakam; d'Arcey J. (Raul) Figueroa and Linda J. (Kenneth) Moglovkin. She adored her many nieces and nephews, including Arthur K. Bell, III and Jason and Justin Foster. Karen was preceded in death by her father, Arthur K. Bell, MD; mother, Sally A. Romaine, RN; grandparents and brother, Arthur K. Bell, Jr.
The family will receive guests Wednesday from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Will Stuart. Interment will follow in Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
At Karen's request memorial contributions may be given to her family or to the children's charity of the donor's choice.
