Karen D. Ferris

Karen D. Ferris, age 71, resident of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away and went to be with the Lord, on Friday, August 6, 2021, at The Toledo Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 19, 1950, to the late Felix Kowalski and Ellen Kowalski (Seger).

Karen is a Start High School graduate and continued her education at The University of Toledo, receiving her Bachelor's degree in education, with a major in mathematics. Her Lord Jesus Christ was important to her from whom her faith came; she was an active member of New Life Alliance Church in Waterville, Ohio, where she enjoyed leading Bible study. Karen liked to get together with friends and play Bunco, which she had been doing for over 15 years; she was in a couple of Bunco clubs. She also loved to go to mom-and-pop bowling and watching cooking shows. Karen enjoyed traveling, whether it was day trips with her husband, Charles, going on cruises, or taking family trips to Aloha State Park, which as tradition, they would go every year. Most of all, Karen loved being a wife, mom, and grandma. Known as "Taxi-Grandma" from her grandkids, she enjoyed and looked forward to family get togethers. Karen loved organizing each party and made it special for each holiday. Family meant everything to her and she will truly be missed by all who knew her.

Those left behind that will forever cherish her memory are her husband and love of her life, Charles Ferris, whom she married on November 21, 1973; three children, Erin Shaun (Joey) Mathias, Ryan Franklin Ferris, and Elyn Ashley VanderEnde; two children who she loved like her own, Michelle Leigh Gill and Jeffrey Charles (Sally) Jurrus; sixteen grandchildren, Esther, Felix, Gideon, Stella, Eliza, Isabel, Micaya, Tsinat, Alie, Austin, Abby, Alaina, Josh, Luke, Amanda, and Allyson; three siblings, David (Judy) Kowalski, Jim (Tina) Kowalski, and Cindy (Dennis) Rabideau; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and good friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a special brother-in-law, Mike Ferris; and many other loved ones whom will never be forgotten about.

Family and friends may gather at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Saturday, August 14, 2021, from 11:00 am until the time of her service at 12:00 pm, with Pastor Dave Bezek officiating.
