Karen Rae (Siler) Costilla had beaten cancer in 1996; she passed away from her second bout of cancer on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Ebeid Hospice surrounded by her loved ones. Karen was born to Herman and Virginia Siler on February 11, 1950. She graduated from Whitney High School. Karen and her husband, Eloy Costilla married on May 5, 1969, known as the Cinco De Mayo holiday. She was employed at Libbey Glass for 31 years before going out on disability in 2002.
Karen enjoyed keeping score at her grandchildren's baseball games, working in her yard, helping organize large family events such as reunions and also spending time with family at various gatherings.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Virginia Siler; sister, Barbara Traver; brother, Herman Jr. and her furry companion, Shadow. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 42 years, Eloy Costilla; sons, Michael (Shawne) and Matthew; grandchildren, Alicia, Matthew Jr., Shaun Michael, Johnny and Edward; sister, Gail; brother, Scott; in-laws, Sylvia (Barb), Louie, Gloria, Lucy (Larry) Carr, Roy (Teresa), Raymond, Cindy (Jim) Gayheart, Eva (George) Armour and Chris (Kim); special friend, who was like a sister, Debbie Dobrolenski (Ed); loving godchildren, Danielle and Matthew; numerous nieces, nephews and an extensive amount of great-nieces and nephews. A very special thanks to the staff of Ebeid Hospice.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). A Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
