Karen Eileen Cieslewski, passed away November 16, 2018 in Sylvania, Ohio. She was born August 25, 1942 and was the oldest child of Robert and Catherine (Long) Mizen, both of whom preceded her in death. An infant daughter, Catherine Anne, also preceded her in death.
Karen was a 1960 graduate of Toledo Central Catholic High School and received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Toledo. She taught mathematics at Bedford Junior High School in Temperance, MI for four years, leaving teaching to raise her family. After her children were grown, she found great satisfaction in her second "career" when she worked as a Closing Secretary for Welles-Bowen Realtors.
Karen loved teaching and her work in the real estate business, but most of all she loved being "Grammy" and her special times with Paige, Katie and Jamie.
Karen is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Richard; daughters, Laura Eileen and Jennifer Eileen (James) Rutledge; son, Michael Richard; granddaughters, Paige Eileen Rutledge, Katherine Irene Rutledge and Jamie Marie Rutledge; sister, Marilyn Mizen; brother, James (Ann) Mizen; special cousins, Suann Long and Amy Strother; dear cousin, Charlene Dillinger; and longtime friend, Karen Haight.
Honoring Karen's requests, there was no visitation and Private Services were held. Newcomer – West Sylvania Chapel (419-392-9500) assisted the family with professional services.
Those wishing to make memorial contributions in Karen's honor are asked to consider the American Cancer Society.
