Kai D'Mon Colbert, age 43, of Toledo, passed away April 30, 2023. He was born March 3, 1980 in Toledo to Dwain Colbert and Martine Grinter.
Kai was a graduate of the Toledo Public School system and a Scott Bulldog. He attended Penta Career Center in the welding department. He held various jobs operating a forklift and different welding positions. He loved his family and friends dearly. He was always the life of the party. He had an infectious laugh and personality that spread to anyone around him. Kai enjoyed cracking jokes and making others around him laugh and feel good. He showed up for everyone when it was important.
Kai always took pride in his appearance. He enjoyed dressing up and going out with family and friends. He made sure to always look fresh to death and put together no matter what the occasion was. Kai also enjoyed working out and staying in shape.
Kai was a loving kind-hearted father, son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend. He made an impact on everyone he encountered.
Kai was preceded in death by his mother, Martine Grinter, grandmother Othalena Colbert-Foreman, and numerous aunts and uncles. He is survived by Fiance, Yvette Marsh and one month old son Ky'Dn D. Colbert; father, Dwain Colbert; children, Nikaija M. Colbert, Kai D. Colbert, Jr., Kyrn D. Colbert, Kym L. Colbert, K'Ci L. Colbert, Kailer D. Colbert, and Ky'Dn D. Colbert; grandchildren, Kyrn D. Colbert, Jr. and A'raelyonna N. Colbert; siblings, Martisha M. (Naisha Brown) Grinter, Dwain K. (Alicia) Barrett, Erica (Antonio) Taylor , Marian Barrett, Racquel Syfert, Stanley and Armon Grier, Earl Stevens III, Myishsa (Patrick)Jackson, Matthew and Missy Hayward; aunt, Carlis (Earl) Stevens, who reared him from early childhood,Veronica Morris,Veranda Morris, Monica(Willie) Perryman, Eddie Mae Colbert, Ann C. Battles who was also his Godmother; uncle, Steve Grinter, Myron Colbert who was also his Godfather, Vernon Colbert, Reginald Colbert, Delano Morris,Gregory (Joyce) Morris, Kevin Morris; his mentor and big cousin Gevette Grimes; cousins who he was reared with , Kodi, Kaveh (Alisha), KTrez (Jayvia), and Kieon Love;special cousins, Che Couch, Cne Bailey, Thadd Edwards and Kevin Sellman; special family friend, Candy Watson and many more family and friends.
The family will receive guests Monday, May 8, 2023 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Newcomer - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
