Julius Joseph Vargyas, age 81, of Toledo passed away Sunday, January 8th, 2006 in St. Luke's Hospital. He was born February 17th, 1924 to Julius and Julia (Torek) Vargyas in Cleveland, Ohio. Julius was employed with Jeep Corporation for more than 30 years retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Cooley Canal Yacht Club, the Jeep Retirees and Local #12 Retirees. Julius was an outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and boating. He was also an avid bowler, bowling with various leagues including the Senior Leagues and the Jeep Retirees. Most of all Julius treasured the time he was able to spend with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary Vargyas; sisters, Anne Barcoto; Mary Rhodes and Vera Lowe, brothers, Joseph and Steve Vargyas and great grandchildren, Jake and James Blazevich. Julius is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Alice "Mary" (Gomoll) Vargyas; children, Ronald (Vicky) Vargyas; John Vargyas; Darlene (Larry) Paul; Mary Ann (Bill) Keller and Linda (Jeff) Barlage; sister, Irene Goodwin; brother, Andy Vargyas;13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
The family will receive guests Wednesday from 2-8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
