Julie Marie Merritt, 56, of Midland, Michigan, recently of Lima, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 13, 1965, in Toledo, Ohio, to James D. Merritt and Patricia (Quell) Fields.
A graduate of Sylvania Northview High School, she continued her education at the University of Toledo, where she had studied business administration. Julie had worked at Meijer for 28 years. Julie who had a heart of gold with a wonderful personality, would do anything for anybody. She was a fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Red Wings, and the Tigers. She enjoyed listening to music, reading a good book, kayaking, hiking, riding her bike, tasting various wines, and being outside. Julie was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
Those left to forever cherish her memory are her brother, Todd Merritt and his wife, Shannon, who was like a sister to Julie; mother, Pat Fields; aunt, Marsha (Jim) Szczerbiak; uncle, John (Barb) Quell; aunt, Mary Racey; a special nephew, Ethan Moore; best friend, Susan Merkle; furry companions, Jade and Sapphire; and lots of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Julie was preceded in death by her father, James D. Merritt; maternal grandparents, Henry and Helen Quell and paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Margaret Merritt.
Family and friends may gather at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Sunday, November 7, 2021, from 12:00 pm until time of funeral services at 6:00 pm.
