Julie Ann Martinez, age 77, a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2020 at The Toledo Hospital. She was born July 28, 1942 in Toledo to Harvey and Virginia (Curtis) Schmieder, Sr.
Julie was a Bookkeeper with the former Toledo based Foodtown Grocery Stores, retiring in 1990. She also served as Treasurer of Hopewell Wesleyan Church for many years. She truly cherished the time she was able to spend with her family. When her children were young, she was involved in many of their school activities from grade school through high school. One of these activities included being a Den Mother with the Cub Scouts while her son was young. Julie also enjoyed ceramics and hosting family gatherings over the years. Julie enjoyed people and was known to always put others needs first.
In addition to her parents, Julie was preceded in death by her son, Martin Martinez, Jr; sister, Joyce Caris; brother, Harvey Schmeider, Jr. and her beloved dog, Polly Anna. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Martin C. Martinez, Sr.; daughters, Linda (William, Jr.) Midwig of Maryland and Marie (Tim) Kuyoth of Toledo; grandchildren, William Midwig, III and Jessica Midwig, Nicole (Zack) Hubbell, Stephanie Gammon and Brittany Cherry; great grandchildren, William "Liam" IV, Kaiden, Kohen, Kolten, Corbin, Bennet, Trey, Mackenzie and Kellin; brothers: Martin (Shirley) Schmieder and Johnny (Marge) Schmieder and sisters, Bonnie Paulun and Dorothy Adkins.
The family will plan a Celebration of her life at a later date when Friends and Community can come together once again.
