Julie Linn Maier

Julie Linn Maier age 64 of Toledo, Ohio passed away October 5, 2024. She was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on April 15, 1960 to William and Ida (Aliano) Gochenour. 

Julie received her bachelor’s degree from Dana College in Blair, NE and her master’s degree in biology from Liberty University. She taught Anatomy & Physiology and Biology at Owens Community College. Julie was a key sponsor and organizer of the LGBTQ Club at Owens for many years. She was once employed as a postal carrier in Nebraska where she served as the state rep for the NALC. 

Julie enjoyed Spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren; traveling to Mexico with her family and friends, baking, cooking, reading, knitting, concerts and plays. 

Surviving is her husband, Christopher; children, Patrick (Lauren) Gochenour. Eva Koziel and William Maier; Nana to Roman, Anderson and Wrenly; sisters, Debbie VanHorne and Roxanne (Kim) Thomas and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. 

Family and friends will be received at the Newcomer Funeral Home (Southwest Chapel) 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo on Monday, October 14, 2024 from 2:00-7:00 PM. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 7:00 PM immediately following visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Boxer Rescue or Planned Parenthood.
