Julie A. Dicecco

March 12, 1954 — November 22, 2023

Julie A. DiCecco, resident of Tecumseh, MI, passed away on November 22, 2023 at age 69. Precious daughter of Rose Marie and the late Kenneth Pauken. Beloved wife of 16 years to Ronald DiCecco. Adored mother of Patrick (Samantha) Sohnly and Nathan Sohnly. Treasured grandmother of Alyssa and Jakob Sohnly. Dear sister of Charles "Rory" (Juanita) Pauken, Sharon (Mike) Englert, and David (Kristie) Pauken. Much loved aunt of Michelle Cruz, Christine (Steve) Weirauch, Joseph (Kristin) Pauken, Mary Rose (Gabriel) Goodremont, Nicholas Pauken, and Kathryn Pauken. Dearly loved niece and cousin to a very large family from Pennsylvania to Ohio to Texas and points between.

Julie devoted her life to her family, and her proudest accomplishment was raising her sons and seeing them thrive as they follow their own paths. She treasured time spent with her nieces and nephews, and enjoyed being consulted by family for her deep knowledge of holistic care. She delighted in closely following all the details of her grandchildren's lives and sharing photos of their adventures with family. Julie loved to laugh, and her presence insured that there would be joy and fun for everyone who was lucky enough to be encircled by her energy. People everywhere were drawn to Julie. She made friends easily and kept them forever. Her deep and lasting friendships are a testament to the very special person that she was.

Julie was passionate about her Nursing career and her dedication to providing excellent care for her patients. Julie was a very proud alum of The Toledo Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1983. She later received her BSN from Spring Arbor University. Julie was twice recognized with the top honor of Nurse of the Year by The Toledo Hospital. She should be celebrated for all of her many accomplishments in Nursing including: Emergency nurse at The Toledo Hospital for over 30 years where she held many leadership positions, Critical Care Mobile ICU Transport Nurse, Critical Care flight nurse and full-time air crew for ProMedica Air spanning over nine years and eventually serving as Clinical Manager of the flight program, CEN Certified emergency nurse, CFRN certified flight RN, STEMI and Cardiac Outreach Coordinator providing acute cardiac care leadership and care coordination for the ProMedica system, also serving as educator for emergency personnel and liaison to many EMS agencies. During her tenure she led the effort to develop a coordinated, regional, acute cardiac care system which remains operational today.

Julie died as a result of the many complications of ALS after a long and challenging battle. Her spirit never flagged, however, and no matter how tough it got, she was quick to remind you that "I'm still me", never complaining and always smiling. Her spirit lives on in all of the lives she touched.
