On Wednesday, January 18, 2023, Julia (Judy) Ostrander, loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, left this earthly life at the grand age of 96. We will miss her dearly.
Judy was born November 16, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio to Leo and Minnie Scharf. She grew up during the depression and graduated from Scott High School. Judy met her love, Kenneth William Ostrander and married on September 14, 1957. Together they raised a family of four children, her most treasured accomplishment. She was a homemaker in a very busy household, somehow keeping everything together amid the chaos. Judy and Kenny took many well remembered family vacations (how she survived these with 4 kids, we will never know).
Judy's love for her family, both immediate and extended was unending. She was the kindest, most compassionate person you could meet. If anyone fell down, she was there holding us up. A heart that's been broken is a heart that's been loved (and she gave us so much love), and a life with love is a life that's been lived. There's a tear every time we blink. She was an angel in the shape of our mom. As God welcomes her back, we sing Hallelujah….. you're home. Oh how we will miss your smiling face and words of encouragement but find comfort in knowing that we will be reunited again someday.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Minnie Scharf, brothers Jack and Jay Scharf, husband Kenny Ostrander and stepson Robert Ostrander. She is survived by her children, Chris (Debbie) Ostrander, Diana (Dave) Battin, Kati (Marc) Corbett, and Maria (Bryan) Stachowiak; stepdaughter, Sandy (Jim) Stange; 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one on the way.
A private family funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may make memorial contributions to Hospice of NWO, or St. Patrick of Heatherdowns.
