Judith C. Knack

July 12, 1939 — September 21, 2020

Judith Carol Knack, age 81, of Toledo, passed away on September 21st at Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center after an extended period of illness. She was preceded in death by her parents and elder brother Roger Brennom. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Robert of 56 years, children Philip (Yolanda) Knack, Caroline Dominguez, and grandchildren Isaac, Marcos, Sebastian and Ivy.

Judy was born on July 12, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois at Ravenswood Hospital to Harry and Frieda (Koch) Mroz. At the age of seven, her father moved the family to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for three years until a home was purchased in New Carlisle, Indiana, and the growing family permanently relocated. She and her five siblings Roger Brennom, Thomas Mroz, Linda Raschke, Diana Hancz and Carol Rush would happily spend the remainder of their childhood there, along the shores of Hudson Lake. Growing up she was an avid member of 4-H and was accomplished at baking, sewing, and canning. Judy prided herself in "being able to run a household by age twelve," and took an active role in the care of her younger siblings.

She had a keen interest in seeking Bible truths and knowing God personally, even as a young girl. In 1954 she attended her first meeting of Jehovah's Witnesses and knew she had found the truth her heart had been yearning for. Several years after her 1957 graduation from New Carlisle High School, she followed her brother Tom to Toledo to engage in full-time preaching. She dedicated her life to God and was baptized on July 11, 1959. She would go on to spend the rest of her life in faithful service, heeding Jesus Christ's commission in Matthew 24:14 to "preach this good news of the Kingdom" to others and to teach them of the promises that Jehovah has in store for mankind.

It was in Toledo where she met Robert Knack, whom she would wed on December 7, 1963.
Judy often said that she could have pursued secular education and a career, but chose to devote her time to being a full-time wife and mother to her two children, Philip and Caroline. Always wanting only the best for her family, she made homemade baby food, bread, yogurt, and canned a variety of self-picked fruits and vegetables for many years. This was all in addition to preparing healthy home-cooked meals for the family seven days a week.

She loved to garden, and had a special affinity for her spectacular iris beds and Spring tulips.
Even as a very small child, Judy expressed memories of being tender-hearted towards animals of all kinds. Friends and neighbors would often seek her out to nurse abandoned or injured birds, cats, and dogs back to health. She mothered and treasured all creatures great and small, even insects such as butterflies and praying mantis. The amazing thing to witness was that the animals under her care often lived lives that far exceeded their natural life-spans!

Her selfless love of "mothering" was only superseded by the love of her Creator, Jehovah God, who always came first to her…
Family will be receiving guests from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Newcomer Funeral Home - Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, Ohio (419 381 1900).

Yet we have this assurance:
Those who belong to God shall live again.
Their bodies shall rise again!
Those who dwell in the dust
shall awake and sing for joy!
For God's light of life will fall like dew
upon them!
-Is. 26:19

The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
