Judith Ann Spross, born on December 30, 1939, went to be with our heavenly Father on April 7, 2014 after her fifth and final courageous battle with cancer.
A devoted and loving wife for 50 years, she is survived by her loving husband James J. Spross, Jr., her daughter Tina (Steven Gurney), grandchildren Daniel and Stephanie Gurney, great-grandchildren Covell Gurney and Mya Green, as well as numerous family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and father Elden and Mary Kellogg, her six siblings and her beloved daughter Diana.
Judy always put family first. She gave the greatest hugs and the warmest, most loving smile you could hope to receive. An animal and nature lover, she was a member of the Toledo Zoo for many years and never met an animal she didn't love. She loved to commune with nature during her walks in the park when she was healthy enough to do so with stops to say hello to her furry friends.
We would like to extend thanks to everyone who supported us during this difficult time, but particularly to Dr. Monica Young for not only taking spectacular care of Judy, but for being a trusted friend, and to each and every employee and volunteer at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for making her last days on this Earth pain free and peaceful.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, April 13, 2014 from Noon-3:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) The Funeral Service will begin at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to donate to The Humane Society, The Toledo Zoo, The American Cancer Society or Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Judy's name.
