Joyce Lynn Williams

Joyce Lynn (Carpenter) Williams was born on Dec. 31, 1948 to Flora Lee Carpenter and W.C. Burnside in Memphis, Tennessee. She moved to Toledo, Ohio with her family at the age of two.
At the age of 19, she married her childhood sweetheart, Willie Williams and together they raised six children, Steve, Willie, Yolanda, Adrian, Darrell, Kevin and bonus daughter, Trina.
She graduated from Toledo Jesup W. Scott High School and the Toledo Academy of Beauty Culture, where she earned her managing and teaching licenses.
Joyce enjoyed doing hair, dressing up, doing arts and crafts and baking specialty cakes for loved ones. She and her husband, Willie, operated Generations Hair Center for four and a half decades.
She loved and cherished family and was a fun loving, generous and sincere person. You could always depend on her for a listening ear and sound advice. She enjoyed playing cards, laughing and talking with her loved ones and her home was always an inviting gathering place for holidays, especially on her birthday, New Year's Eve.
She loved the Lord with all of her heart and was a long-time member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church.
She left this Earthly life on January 25, 2022, following a short battle with cancer at the Northwest Ohio Hospice Center in Toledo, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her mother Flora Lee Ballard, step-father Ozzie Ballard, sister's Flora Jean Ballard and Pauletta Jenkins.
She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory, husband of 53 years Willie Williams, Jr., Children Steven Williams, Trina (Erik) Copeland, Willie (Margie) Williams, Yolanda (William) Branham, Adrian Williams, Darrell Williams, Kevin Williams and four grandchildren she reared, Brandy (John) Jones, Adrienne (Jamel) Macauley, Douglas Williams and Deon'Dre Williams; 27 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; sister Joanne Ballard, brothers, Ivan and Ozzie Ballard, aunt Leola Walker and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Family and friends may visit at the Newcomer Funeral home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Monday, February 7, 2022, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, from 11:00 am until the time of services at 11:30 am, with Rev. Jimmy L. Jordan officiating. Burial will take place on Wednesday at 11:00 am, at Forest Cemetery.
