Joyce Carol Mclafferty

Joyce Carol McLafferty, age 89, resident of Toledo, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born on June 11, 1933, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Harry and Edna (Goodman) McGovern.

A devout Christian, attending church was very important to Joyce. She worked as a homemaker, caring for her husband and children. Joyce loved flowers, especially geraniums, and cardinals. Most of all, Joyce enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She looked forward to family gatherings, where it would be full of stories and laughter. Joyce's smile and love will forever be missed by all who knew her.

Those left to forever cherish her memory are her children, John (Bonnie) McLafferty, Rickie McLafferty, Kathy Kelly, and Tammie (Gary) Shartell; grandchildren, Amy Kelly, Chalise Westfall, Rani Good, Brook McLafferty, Courtney Adamczyk, Cody Good, Mikayla Alvarez, Trent Umlor, and Tristan Umlor; many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death and greeted in Heaven by her husband of 60 years, John McLafferty; sisters, Betty Mark, Eileen Burghardt, Sandy Reebe, Joanne Maze and Judy Stahl; brothers, Bob McGovern, Ron McGovern, and Dan McGovern.

Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Thursday, October 6, 2022, from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Funeral services will take place at the funeral home, on Friday, October 7, 2022, at 11:00 am, with Pastor Frank Draganic officiating. Joyce will be laid to rest at East Swanton Cemetery, next to her husband.
