Joyce Ellen Katke-Lademan, a beloved matriarch, devoted mother, and cherished friend, passed away on February 2, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on September 27, 1928, in Dimondale, Michigan, Joyce's life was one characterized by love, resilience, and dedication, leaving a legacy that will forever warm the hearts of those who knew her.
Joyce began her journey as a high-school graduate, stepping into a world that would see her shine brightly over many years. She established a commendable career in accounting, working diligently for Oldsmobile and later for the State of Michigan, where her contributions spanned over 16 years. Her meticulous nature and commitment to excellence were traits that her colleagues admired deeply.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Joyce held her family close to her heart.
She is survived by her caring sons, Daniel Katke, Marvin (Susan Roberge) Katke, Todd (Conni) Katke, and John (Lorinda) Katke, each of whom carry forward her legacy of kindness and strength. Joyce also leaves behind a wealth of love for her granddaughters, Theresa Katke, Jenn (Mike) Palmer, Claudia (Alex) Dennis, and Rachel (Jason) Tenney; great grandchildren, Lyndsay Palmer, James Dennis, Sebastian Tenney, and Brynleigh Tenney; and many nieces and nephews, who will cherish the memories they created with her.
Joyce was an avid attendee of her Presbyterian church, where she found great joy and community, further illustrating her loving spirit and faith. Those who shared her company will remember her warm smile and gentle wisdom, often reassured by her comforting presence. Joyce's faith was a guiding light not only in her life but also in the lives of those she touched.
Joyce is reunited with loved ones who have passed, including her second husband Larry Lademan, and her first husband David Katke. She is also preceded in death by her father, Royal Kempher, her mother, Hattie Kempher, and her brothers, Royal and Dale Kempher. Though their absence leaves a profound void, their spirits continue to be embraced by the love Joyce fostered throughout her long and fulfilling life.
As we remember Joyce, we celebrate a life fully lived-one filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for her family and friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her, a reminder of the love that binds us all together.
