Joyce Marie Burnette

Joyce Marie Burnette, born on April 6, 1941, in Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025, at St. Anne’s Mercy Hospital. Joyce was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and kindness left a profound impact on all who knew her.

Throughout her life, Joyce dedicated herself to her family and community. She enjoyed a varied career that included positions at Ace Hardware, Owens-Illinois, and Mr. Bulky's Candy Shop. Joyce was particularly known for her unwavering involvement in her children's activities, whether it was attending Boy Scouts, supporting football games, or participating in other family events. Her devotion to her children and their interests exemplified the love she had for her family.

Joyce's personality shined through in simple yet meaningful gestures; she loved hugging hello and goodbye, leaving those she embraced with a sense of warmth and comfort. Her hobbies, which included working outdoors in the yard, feeding the birds, and attending car shows with her husband, were reflections of her vibrant spirit and zest for life. Additionally, Joyce cherished the joyful moments spent dancing at sock hops, celebrating the simple pleasures of life.

Her marriage to Earnest L. Burnette Sr., who predeceased her, was one of her proudest accomplishments, as was nurturing her loving family. Joyce is survived by her son, Ernie (Debby) Burnette Jr.; daughter, Yvonne Burnette; grandchildren, Ernie Burnette III, Jamie Ayers, Crystal Wallace, Dakota Coates; and great-grandchildren, Isaac, Noah, and Onyx Bryant, with another great granddaughter on the way. She also leaves behind her sister, Dolores (Forest) Heminger, as well as nieces Vicky Heminger and Diane (Rick) Hamp and sisters-in-law, Annabelle and Joann, all of whom will deeply miss her presence in their lives.

Her parents, Hazel and Orville Moffit, her loving husband, Earnest L. Burnette Sr., great granddaughter, Sarah Ayers, and nephew, Doug Heminger preceded her in death, and they are surely welcoming her with open arms.

Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, located at 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH 43623, on March 26, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location from 12:00 PM.
