Joyce R. Ascunce, 87, of Toledo, passed away November 22, 2017 at St. Anne's Mercy Hospital. Joyce was born December 27, 1929 to Charles and Blanche (McKnight) Roth. She taught in the Washington Local School District for more than 30 years. Joyce was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She taught Spanish Folk dancing, made teddy bears for TPD to give to children, raised purebred dachshunds, rode barrel races in her youth at local rodeos and taught Spanish to members of her church. She loved and cared for all animals. For 15 years she was a caregiver to her husband who suffered from Alzheimer's, to keep him active and involved in life. In her spare time she loved to listen to Spanish music and play her castanets.
She is survived by her son, Raul (Jo) Ascunce, grandchildren, Jodi (Kyle) Bricely, Jesse (Larina) Ascunce, Kurt (Kerra) Ascunce and 5 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Rolando; son, Carlos and sister June Pomeroy.
The family will receive guests Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Newcomer - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 10:30 am. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park .
