Joy A. Meeks

Joy A. Meeks, age 79, of Swanton, Ohio passed away September 2, 2016 at St. Lukes Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 3, 1936 in Toledo to Henry and Cora (Parrish) VonSeggern. An avid bowler, when unable to actually bowl, Joy attended the Swanton Senior Center to play Wii bowling. Joy also loved to travel especially to the casinos. She enjoyed board games, bingo and especially Scrabble.

Joy is survived by her husband of 55 ½ years, Clarence "Sonny" Meeks, Jr.; children, Cheryl (Christopher) Hooten, Steven (Kenya) Meeks, Trudy (Jack) Donnelly; grandchildren, Cynthia Mendenhall, Shaun Donnelly, Chris Donnelly and Courtney Meeks. In addition to her parents, Joy was preceded in death by her son, Clarence Henry Meeks.

The family will receive guests Friday, September 9, 2016 from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 10:00 am. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in East Swanton Cemetery.
