Josephine Jacobs

Josephine Jacobs, age 77, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2008 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. She was born June 28, 1931 to Peter and Catherine (Guardi) Davie in Monreale Sicily, Italy. Josephine was a 1948 graduate of Central Catholic High School. She was employed with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for 20 years. Josephine was a longtime member of St. Clement Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society. She was an avid crafter and gardener, as well as a wonderful cook. Josephine also enjoyed playing Bingo at St. Clement over the years. She and husband Jerry were members of the Coral Cay Group, traveling to Ft. Lauderdale Florida together for more than 20 years. Josephine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, cherished the times spent with family and friends.

Josephine is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Jerry Jacobs; children, Chris Jacobs; Peter Jacobs; Steven Jacobs and Karen (Randy) Iagulli; grandchildren; Christopher; Nicholas; Elizabeth and Cassandra (Andy); brothers, Salvator (Susan) Davie and Peter S. Davie; sisters, Lena Davie; Rose (Donald) Baumgartner; MaryAnn (William) Allen and Margaret (Paul) Dewey. Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Catherine Davie and infant granddaughter, Natasha.

The family will receive guests Thursday for 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) with Scripture Services beginning at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin Friday at 11:15 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. at St. Clement Church, 3000 Tremainsville Rd. Officiating will be Fr. Ray Shepherd. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
