June 15, 1933 — March 14, 2023

Joseph E. Staab Sr., 89 passed away peacefully March 14th at The Manor at Perrysburg, where he has lived since August 2022.

A lifelong Toledo resident, he was born to Florence (Bogdanski) and Joseph Arthur Staab. He grew up in the Cherry and Page St area of Toledo. A graduate of St. Mary's elementary and Central Catholic High School, he went on to serve two years of active duty in the Army during the Korean War. He retired from the former AP Parts Corporation in the late 80s, eventually taking an apartment maintenance position at Lake of the Woods in Sylvania. He was a hobby fisherman, taking many trips with his son to Canada in the 1960s. Joe was an avid golfer. He spent much of his life on the golf course. Joe was also an outstanding bowler. He averaged over 200 for many years dating back to the 1960s. His personality was always displayed in the bowling leagues or on the golf course. His sense of humor, generosity, and overall warm nature made him popular with fellow bowlers, co-workers, golfers, and most recently his care staff.

In 1982 he married his second wife, Jacqueline (Shoupe-Brown) who survives him. He is also survived by three cherished children; Chandra (Dr. Glen Vaughn), Joseph Jr (Dr. Rebecca Joslin), and Laurie (Gary Schrock) whom he shared with his former spouse, Barbara Woodward, along with 7 loving grandchildren whom he was immensely proud of, and his first great-grandchild born March 13. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings; Patricia "Bootsie" (Walcher), Raymond (Mack), and Catherine (Woodall), he is survived by sisters, Delores "DeDe" Mazuchowski and Marguerite "Peaches" Young. He is also survived by numerous stepchildren and step-grandchildren.
