Joseph "Joe" Petrusky, 74, of Sylvania passed away on Monday February 28, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at Ebeid Hospice.
He was born on March 27, 1947 in Perrysburg, Ohio. Joe graduated from Lake High School in 1965 and started his career with C&O Railroad shortly after. He was drafted by the Army in 1965 and served in the Vietnam War. Joe retired from the CSX railroad in 2009 after 44 years. He fought a long, hard battle with kidney disease for 23 years. During that time he received amazing care at Davita Maumee Bay Dialysis, Davita Flower Dialysis, and also received a kidney transplant at Cleveland Clinic. His humor, charm, and wit always kept his doctors and nurses smiling, leaving a lasting impact on many of them.
Joe loved spending time with his granddaughter and he couldn't wait for the arrival of his twin grandchildren. He proudly showed their pictures and talked about them to everyone he encountered. Joe loved going to Lake High School football and basketball games with his friends Pat and Mike Fox. He also enjoyed golfing, going on cruises, going out to eat with family and his many friends, and watching the wildlife in the serenity of his backyard. Joe's unique personality and great sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Becky (Bilek) Petrusky; his daughter Jennifer (Petrusky) Haley and son-in-law Adam Haley; his brother Richard (Barb) Petrusky; his grandchildren Sloane Haley, Jack Haley and Paige Haley; and his son James Petrusky.
