Joseph O. Knapik, age 79, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, February 10th, 2010 at The Toledo Hospital. He was born July 26th, 1930 to George and Victoria (Przystal) Knapik in Toledo. Joseph was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving his country proudly. He was employed with the former Teledyne Corporation for more than 30 years. Joseph was a member of VFW 2898 and an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers Baseball and Notre Dame Football teams. Most importantly Joe was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, cherishing the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his brother, Ed Knapik. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Phyllis (Bartnikowski) Knapik; son, Tim (Laurie) Knapik of Columbus, OH; daughter, Debbie (Rex) Mahlman of Holland, OH; grandchildren, Ashley; Rex, Jr. and Amber and 5 great grandchildren.
The family will receive guests Friday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
