Joseph Anthony McCarthy III, passed from this life suddenly on October 10, 2021, just 3 days shy of his 62nd birthday. Joe was raised in the Westmoreland neighborhood of Toledo, Ohio. He attended Gesu grade school and St. Francis De Sales High School.
Joe, affectionately called Jose, was a talented home painter, artist and poet. He would often design greeting cards and caricatures, which would evoke smiles and laughter. He enjoyed the sport of hockey and was proud of his playing, coaching and officiating for youth hockey in Northwest Ohio. He was patriotic, a lover of aviation history and literature. Joe's greatest passion and pride was for his son, Staff Sergeant Garret Brockman USAF Division 733 AMS, currently stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
Joe developed his gift of laughter early in life. He had an uncanny ability to find humor in all things and would freely share his irreverent sensibilities.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. McCarthy M.D. and Margaret McCarthy, sister, Margaret Nicholson and first cousin, Brian McCarthy.
Surviving his death are his son, Sgt. Garret Brockman; Mary Pellioni M.D., Kevin (Bridget) McCarthy, Kelly (Tom) Sheehan and Martin (Amy) McCarthy.
Also, left to laugh and smile are a host of incredible cousins, nephews, and a fantastic niece.
