Joseph M. Prasek

Joseph M. Prasek, age 83, of Toledo, passed away Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Franciscan Care Center. He was born December 21, 1925 to George and Agnes Prasek in Toledo. Joe was a WWII U. S. Army veteran, receiving 2 Purple Hearts during his tour of duty. He was employed with the Jeep Corporation for 40 years, retiring in 1983. Joe was a former member of the DAV and a longtime parishioner of St. Clement Church. He was an avid pet lover and enjoyed caring for animals of all kinds, as well as his yard.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by all his siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Hazel A. (Oravetz) Prasek; daughter, Karen (Steve) Ziolkowski and their children, Adam and Lisa and also daughter, Denise Crosby and her children, Crystal; Joseph and Josh and niece, Linda (Roscoe) Love.

The family will receive guests Tuesday from 2-8:00 p.m. (Rosary at 7:30 p.m.) at Newcomer funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and follow with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Rd. Officiating will be Fr. Mike Brown. Burial will be at Toledo Memorial Park.
