Joseph "Joe" Krupa, age 89, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Arbors at Sylvania. He was born on February 6, 1925 to Charles and Katherine (Hennel) Krupa in Outcrop, Pennsylvania. Joe was a 1944 graduate of Jesup W. Scott High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed with Schmidt's Provision Company as a meat packer for 39 years, then went on to work other jobs until retiring at the age of 80. Joe was an avid bowler, hunter, fisherman, loved the outdoors and could fix just about anything. He was diehard Detroit Tigers fan, never missing a game. Joe loved the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Cassandra Hines; son, Robert "Bobby" Lopez; brother, John Krupa; and aunt, Ann Hennel. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mariana (Reyes) Krupa; children, Katherine (Carl Standifer) Krupa, Elizabeth (Randy) Clay, Bertha Lopez, Veronica Gonzalez, Fernando (Marsha) Lopez, Hilda Lopez, Jose (Lynn) Lopez, Rosalinda (Dennis) Spaulding and Anna Maria (Domingo) Ponce; grandchildren, Michael (Mildred Pavon) Sammour, Layla (Hysam Zokari) Hassan, Makala Barnes, Virginia (Marcus) Ashford, Elizabeth J. Clay, Alexander Clay, Sydney Clay, Humberto Marruquin, Jennifer (Ricardo Rodriguez) Collins, Julia Collins, Ashley Moreland, Aaliyah Moreland, Vincent (Jessica) Gonzalez, Victor (Andrea) Gonzalez, Isabel (Ken) Woodard, Quinn (Collin) Judice, Marina (Lee) McLaren, Joseph Lopez, Jessica Lopez, Anthony Lopez, Danny Spaulding, Teresa Lopez, Alex Spaulding, Matias Ponce; 21 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ann and Karl Krupa; his canine companions, Spike and Sammy; and many other family members and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Friday from 2 – 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
