Joseph O. Kramer, 94, passed away peacefully April 18, 2024 with family by his side. Joe was born on July 13, 1929 to Joseph C. Kramer and Elinor V. Devlin in Vincennes, Indiana. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1947.
After graduation, Joe attended John Herron Art Institute in Indianapolis, and the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts.
Joe enlisted in the US Air Force and was a Korean War Veteran from 1950-1954 with the rank of Staff Sgt. He served at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico as a Radio Technician and in Misawa AFB, Japan as NCO in charge, Communications Group, 511th AC&W Squadron, Ground Control Intercept.
After serving his country, Joe met, then married Donna Keller on February 22, 1955. They shared a beautiful and loving life together for 69 years.
Joe studied Pre-Engineering at Vincennes University and Graduated from Butler University with a B.S. in Physics. He had a successful career as an electrical engineer, working in the glass tempering industry. He was employed at Hamilton of Indiana, Tuf-Flex Glass, and finally, Glasstech Inc., as Project Manager and Director of Developement Engineering, retiring in 1994.
He was an Evening Class Instructor for four years at Vincennes University teaching classes in Industrial Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Industrial Electronics, and Machine Tool Control.
Joe was an avid reader and enjoyed hiking, birdwatching and fishing. He was especially proud of his family with Donna, their 5 children, 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are, his wife Donna, children; Dan (Paula) Kramer, Mike Kramer, Susan (Patrick) Norman, Jenny Valentine and Jeff (Debbie) Kramer. Grandchildren; Jackie (Jake) Heilmann, Kristen Norman (Brian), Dana (Jeff) Easterwood, Brittany (Sam) Horvath, Nathan (Kathleen) Gay, Samantha Kramer (Zac), Matthew Kramer. Greatgrandchildren; Rylee, Braelyn, Eden Heilmann, Chloe, Lexie, Trenton, Jenson, Lyndon Easterwood, Sutton Gay.
Sisters in-law; Shirley Kramer Miller and Carol Kramer.
Joe was preceeded in death by his parents, brothers Edward Kramer and Hugh Kramer, and Son-in-law Alan Valentine.
