It is with deep sadness that I announce the loss of my loving husband, Joseph M. "Joe" Kinshaw, Sr., age 82, of Toledo, who passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 27, 2015. He was born on April 21, 1933 to Joseph and Marguerite Kinshaw in Chicago, IL. Joe was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an avid learner, receiving his Bachelor's Degree of Education from The University of Toledo and his Master of Arts Degree from Eastern Michigan University. Joe was an educator for 50 years before retiring from Mason Consolidated Schools. He was passionate about history and bringing it alive to those he taught. Joe's other passion was sports and he coached football, baseball and wrestling, at Fostoria, Mason Consolidated and Whiteford Agricultural Schools. At Mason Consolidated, he was the editor of the newspaper and the Director of the Adult Education Program. He was an avid reader and writer, nearly completing his novel. Joe had a love of the arts, and enjoyed going to movies.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-grandson, Ramon Gallegos. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Lois (Cappelletty) Kinshaw; children, Joe Jr. (Lea), Michael (Nadine) and Kelly (Gary) Knaggs; step-children, Todd (Renee), Lisa (Jeff) and Jodi (Matthew) Cappelletty; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive guests on Saturday from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
