Joseph J. Kowalski, age 91, beloved husband of Dorothy, peacefully passed away at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on April 6, 2015. He was born March 24, 1924 to Edward Sr. and Anna Kowalski.
After marrying in their 60s, Dorothy and Joe had 26 ½ wonderful years together. They enjoyed many activities together including traveling, dancing, swimming aerobics and walks in the park. Joe made wonderful wood creations for their home and gifts for their children. He loved gardening and working in his yard. He was very active at Faith Community United Church of Christ where he created a special altar cross for the sanctuary and was church photographer. Joe worked at Yarder Manufacturing Company for 42 years where he was Chief Engineer and held 3 patents.
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by children, Dave (Mary), Ron (Kathy), Barb (Carl) Monhollen, Robert, Doug, Carol Rauch, Kimberly Parker; step-daughters, Jana (Bill) Harrison and Ellen Hairston; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and niece, Mary Evilsizer. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Evelyn; brothers, Anthony and Edward Jr.
The family will receive guests from 2-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015. Family and friends may visit from 10-11:00 a.m. on Friday prior to the service. Burial will take place at Lambertville Cemetery.
