Joseph Anthony DeStazio, age 36, of Toledo, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021. Joseph was born February 18, 1985 in Toledo to Laranda (Zimmerman) Strugalski and Rickey DeStazio.
He graduated from Rossford High School in 2003 and worked for Greenworks Remodeling for many years with his close friend, Andy Stumph. Joe had a passion for music and going to concerts with his sister. He had a great sense of humor and could always make those around him laugh. Joe had a compassionate soul who was always willing to help anyone. He enjoyed giving back to his community by sharing his struggles with addiction in hopes of helping others. Joe was most happy spending time with his son, Jaxson, cherishing those memories above all else.
"Our beautiful boy has finally found peace. He has struggled for way too many years with his addiction and God has now taken him into his loving arms. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him as a son, a brother, a father, a nephew, a grandson, a friend, and just a beautiful person."
He is survived by his mother, Laranda (Larry) Strugalski; father, Rickey DeStazio; son, Jaxson DeStazio; sister, Angela (Steve Helman) DeStazio; nephew, Ethan Kyles; grandmother, Ruth Christy; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents, Anthony DeStazio, June DeStazio, Merill Christy; and aunt, Jean Whitacre.
The family will receive guests Friday, March 5, 2021 from 3:30 pm - 7:30 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will be private for the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Zepf Center in Joe's memory.
